HOLY
25 Cambodian Artists Defining
Contemporary Discourse
For all that is sacred and all that is holy, may we remember what truly matters.
This exhibition represents a sacred space, hosting 25 Cambodians from ten different provinces across the country. Many of the artists have relocated to larger cities from their homelands, yet their stories echo their upbringing.
The works presented here reflect what each deems holy—whether a deeply felt experience, a facet of something larger, or a tangible symbol of inspiration.
The holy does not require spectacle or life-changing transformation. It is revealed in the tenderness of a mother’s eyes as she looks upon her newborn. It appears in the graceful flight of the hornbill. Or, as we have witnessed in recent times, it manifests in a nation coming together in a call for peace and unity.
As a generation, these artists carry forward inherited histories, while articulating new ways of seeing and being. Their works speak not from rupture and ravage, but from continuity—where resilience is not declared, but lived; where joy persists; where meaning is found in the everyday. In this way, their voices do not replace the past, but extend it.
O Holy Cambodia, our hearts belong with you.
We witness your resilience and strength.
We witness your joy permeating the fabric of this sun-saturated landscape.
We hold reverence for those ancestors who came before, creating a vast empire of devotional temples.
We witness your spirit carried through the creations of these 25 artists, representing a new generation of voices.
O Holy Cambodia.
This exhibition offers but a glimpse into the holy moments that unfold every day across this land.
